Stir Fry with Asian Spices and Prawns

I used prawns but you could use chicken or beef. I also had very little time to prepare this dish for friends so I used frozen vegetables.

Ingredients

Cooked rice, 1kg packet of frozen stir fry vegetables, 500g packet of frozen sweetcorn, 1kg prawns, 1 onion chopped, coriander, salt, pepper, crushed ginger, crushed garlic, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, chinese five spice.

Clean and devein the prawns but leave the shell on. Season with 1 teaspoon of chinese five spice, 1 teaspoon of crushed garlic, salt, and some chilli powder. Set aside.

In a wok or large frypan add a little olive oil. Add the onions and cook for few minutes. Add the ginger and garlic and cook for a minute. Add the vegetables and sweetcorn and stir fry on high heat until cooked. Add pepper to taste and very little salt as the soya sauce is salty. Add the cooked rice and the sauces. The sesame oil is very concentrated so add just a few drizzles. The hoisin sauce is also very spicy so add a little at a time to taste. Add the soya sauce a tablespoon at a time to taste. Taste for salt and add if needed. Roughly chop the coriander and add to the wok.

Now fry the marinated prawns in some butter. Fry on high heat for just a minute on each side. Serve with the stir fried rice.
